Little Shop of Horrors
Little Shop of Horrors is a horror comedy rock musical with music by Alan Menken and lyrics and a book by Howard Ashman. The story follows Seymour, a meek plant store attendant, who discovers a carnivorous plant named Audrey II that promises him fame and fortune, but demands human blood to survive, leading to a humorous and macabre story of love, greed, and the dangers of unchecked ambition.

A Monster Calls
A Monster Calls is a play adaptation of Patrick Ness's 2011 fantasy novel of the same name about a 13-year-old boy named Conor O'Malley who is visited by a giant monster that emerges from a yew tree in a churchyard. The monster offers to tell Conor three stories in exchange for Conor telling him the truth about his worst nightmare. The stories help Conor understand his complicated feelings about his mother's terminal cancer and being bullied at school. The play explores themes of isolation, acceptance, and the importance of storytelling.

Winter Wonderland
J.C.A.T.D, Shades Valley Band, And Shades Valley Choir all join each other in a Spectacular winter show case. There will be singing, dancing, and all the classic winter holiday music .

Hades Town Teen Edition
Hadestown is a musical by Anaïs Mitchell and Rachel Chavkin that tells a modern version of the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, set in Depression-era New Orleans. The story is about two young lovers, Orpheus and Eurydice, whose true love blossoms despite their poverty. Eurydice is convinced by Hades to work in his underground factory, Hadestown, in exchange for "comfort and stability". When Orpheus discovers her fate, he sets out to rescue her from the underworld, but Eurydice has signed a contract and now belongs to Hades. Orpheus has a song in his heart that could free people from Hades' lair and make Hades' soul kind, but he can't seem to finish it.

Film & New Works Festival
Join us as we wrap our year by celebrating the fantastic original works of our Academy students! This evening of student produced short films, original scenes, and dance choreography is sure to offer something for everyone! Alice by Heart
When the ailing Alfred is quarantined, Alice encourages him to escape with her into their cherished book and journey down the rabbit hole to Wonderland. As they travel through the tale, ALICE BY HEART explores the poignancy of first love, coming to terms with loss, and finding the courage to move forward.

A play adapted from “Getting Out of Bombingham” by George S. Stewart.

Antigone Now!
"Antigone Now" written by Melissa Cooper, is a modernized version of the Greek tragedy "Antigone".
This show is about Antigone and her sister Ismene living in a post-war city where their uncle Creon is the king. Antigone and Ismene’s brothers, Polynices and Eteocles, were fighting on opposite sides of the war. When they tragically killed each other in the war, Creon only buried Eteocles, and he ordered that Polynices be left dead in the street. When Antigone goes behind her uncle's back and buries Polynices, she is arrested and executed.

You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown
J.C.A.T.D is preforming a show based on the beloved Charles Schulz comic strip, Charlie Brown and the entire Peanuts bunch explore life's great questions as they play baseball, struggle with homework, sing songs, swoon over their crushes, and celebrate the joy of friendship!

Bat Boy: The Musical
The dark comedy written by Keythe Farley and Bryan Flemming tells the story of a boy who is half human and half bat. When discovered in a cave, he is taken and given to the Parkers, a local family who comes to raise him. However, not everyone in this small town of West Virginia is so welcoming and ready to accept him into society. All of the drama, blood, and rock and roll that this show has will make you laugh, cry, and even potentially question your inner beast.

BKLYN The Musical
See the heart behind these hands, as JCATD presents this touching story within a story. On the outside, you have a troupe of street performers who are sharing a story from their lives, using it to help you see them as people too. Then there is the story they tell – the story of a young girl who comes to the U.S. to find the father she never knew. Together these stories create a show that is both touching and inspiring, drawing the audience into a live theater experience to remember. You will believe in miracles as “once upon a time” is brought to beautiful life on stage!

Our Town
This timeless drama of life in the mythical village of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, has become an American classic with universal appeal. Thornton Wilder’s most frequently performed play, Our Town appeared on Broadway in 1938 to wide acclaim, and won the Pulitzer Prize. This “quiet masterpiece”, presents the circle of life: growing up, adulthood, and death, in an intimate look at the things that truly matter in life, all portrayed with theatrical simplicity, using a bare stage as the backdrop for an exploration of the universal human experience. The story of a lifelong love affair asks timeless questions about the meaning of love, life and death, and reminds us all to stop and notice the beauty around us.

Winter Wonderland
Our annual tradition, uniting our Fine Arts department in a celebration of the Holiday season is back, after missing a year due to the pandemic last season. Featuring original theatrical scenes, dance numbers, performances from our Choirs, and Band, as well as student artwork, Winter Wonderland is sure to lift your spirits and get you in the holiday mood!

All Together Now
JCATD joins theatres around the world in presenting a special global event with this new musical revue! Featuring popular songs from hit musicals, All Together Now celebrates the steadfast spirit of local theatre and its artists, as we all work to emerge from the effects of the pandemic on the arts world. With nearly 4000 simultaneous performances planned at over 1600 schools and theatres spanning all 50 states and 38 countries around the globe, All Together Now promises to be an amazing and powerful expression of the resilient spirit found on our stages!

Ernest And The Pale Moon
Inspired by the work of Edgar Allan Poe and Alfred Hitchcock, it lies a spine-chilling tale of obsession and murder, based upon a short story by Oliver Lansley, about a man who spends his days watching the beautiful young woman who lives in the apartment block opposite. Upon seeing her with another man, he is thrown into a jealous rage and driven to murder, though all is not what it may at first seem, and slowly Ernest’s guilt sends him on a spiraling descent into madness. This play will be performed in its full length form, and will also be presented as our entry into the One-Act Festival at the 2021 Trumbauer Festival!
